here I sit

There waits a little seat

 cold and empty

Til I sit upon it with open heart

Lovely words but they sound sad and lonely.

Oh dear – they weren’t meant to. It’s one of my favourite spots to be when I have but a few moments to spare. Lizzy (my dog) gets to shnuffle round for a bit and check out all the new scents and I get to stop for a minute, take a deap breath and just ‘be’. The seat is always cold when I sit on it and fortunately empty and I thought it was an interesting metaphor for when we move from one thing to another. Until we bring our ‘self’ to something (adding warmth to our experience) it can feel a bit cold and empty.

Thank you. They are. Although it is currently very wet and cold and our usually gentle meandering rivulet is now a torrent of brown hurtling to sea it is autumn and what our weather should be. The best excuse to turn on our heaters and look to cosy indoor activities. 🙂
